The Federation’s role
The Federation has distributed nearly $10 million to more than 30 Traditional Owner and Aboriginal organisations on governments’ behalf since 2020. As an Aboriginal community-controlled grant administrator, the Federation’s approach is:
- trust-based
- culturally appropriate
- rights-focused
- grounded in principles of self-determination and free, prior and informed consent
The Federation has successfully administered:
- Djakitjuk Djanga: 13 recipients sharing $2 million
- Nation Building Resource Pool: 10 recipients sharing $5.835 million
- Aboriginal Culture and Healing Flood Recovery Grant Program: 14 recipients (16 projects) sharing $2 million
